Are Donors Texting or Donating Online?



On Tuesday, we posted a survey on Zoomerang to find out how people are donating to charities responding to the Haiti earthquake. Here are the results so far:

1. If you've made a donation to support the Haiti Earthquake Relief Efforts, how did you make that donation?

Online - at the charity's own site 50 60%
Online - via Charity Navigator's site 2 2%
Online - via a social networking site like Facebook Causes 0 0%
Text Donation 8 10%
Mailed a Check 10 12%

2. If you made a text donation, is this the first time you gave by texting?

I'd like to see a comparison of the average donation, by method of giving. Many of these text contributions were for relatively small amounts .. like $10. I don't think too many people would write a check for such a small amount.
