Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service is just a few days away.

Last year, inspired by by President Obama’s call to service, more than 13,000 projects took place making it the largest effort ever in the 14 years since Congress encouraged Americans to observe the King Holiday as a national day of service. To help ensure that this year's response is just as great, the Corporation for National and Community Service is promoting the All for Good volunteer search tool (it aggregates volunteer opportunities submitted by other volunteer search engines and other organizations).

Charities featured on Charity Navigator, including Hands On Network and Volunteers of America, also list volunteer opportunities on their sites. And our Guide To Volunteering offers lots of advice if you are new to giving your time.
