As you probably know by now, President Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." Besides the prestige that comes along with this award, the recipient also received a $1.4 million cash award. When President Obama was notified that he won, he said he planned to give the money to charity "in a way that promotes [his] ideals" and that honors the prize committee.Today, we're learning which charities will receive the money:
- $125,000 each to 6 charities that help students go to college: 4-star College Summit, 4-star Posse Foundation, 3-star United Negro College Fund, 3-star Hispanic Scholarship Fund, 2-star American Indian College Fund, Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation
- $250,000 to the 4-star Fisher House Foundation
- $200,000 to the Bush-Clinton Haiti Fund
- $100,000 to the 3-star AfriCare
- $100,000 to the 4-star Central Asia Institute

Congratulations to President Obama for receiving the Nobel Peace Prize as well for donating the money to charities.A significant act which raises my compliments.
Even though,I strongly support that Mr.Obama should be the one to nominate Michael Jackson for this Prize.I think he owes it to Michael!
