I looked up an autism charity from Dallas and San Antonio but could not find them on your site and not the on the IRS site re 501 corps! So, I wrote to then from their web site asking if they had another name and why not on navigator and not on IRS. Although they asked for money, they never responded! Very suspicious and a reason never to give to them and maybe time to report them to ?
A Schonb- Glad to hear you took the time to check out this group. I would encourage you to report this organization to the IRS and your state charity regulator (see this blog for instructions: http://blog.charitynavigator.org/2012/06/how-to-report-misconduct-by-charity.html). And we'd love to know the name of the group as well. You can post that here or email our office.
Please remember Charity Navigator does NOT list a charity until they have 1 MILLION Dollars coming in per year... Just because they are not listed does not mean they are real, it just means they are small... Go to guidestar.com and check them out. They have all charities not just the big ones..
Actually, we do list every charity - no matter how small - and include their Forms 990. But we only rate those that have at least $1 million in total revenue.
Sandra, Really??? I am a legit charity, 501(c)3 I do not show up on your site.. we have been around for 10 years.. we do show up on guidestar... EIN 203410498
Thank you Alana for taking the time to clarify. Yes, your charity is on our site. You can view your listing here: http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.profile&ein=203410498.Again, we have a page of information on our site for every nonprofit in America and we rate 8,000 of the largest charities (which account for 1/2 of all donations).
Thank you, when I searched for us I did not find it :)Alana
