Charity Navigator Notices Interest in Meals on Wheels Surging After Trump Releases Federal Budget

Charity Navigator has noticed a surge of interest in Meals on Wheels after President Trump released the federal budget. On March 16, the Trump administration released its proposed fiscal 2018 federal budget. Included in the various cuts proposed by the White House, is the elimination of the $3 billion Community Development Block Grant program and a decrease in support for the Department of Health and Human Services. Both of these programs help subsidize the work of Meals on Wheels

While the lack of details in the current budget makes it difficult to determine just how much of a drop in federal funding Meals on Wheels can expect, the organization did become "the poster child for the impact of Trump's budget cuts." As a result, the charity says that it has experienced a big jump in support - exactly what we saw among Charity Navigator users as depicted in the following chart.
