Charity Navigator Celebrates World Poetry Day

Charity Navigator Celebrates World Poetry Day
On March 21st, Charity Navigator is celebrating World Poetry Day. Declared by UNESCO in 1999, World Poetry Day serves as a reminder and celebration of the way that artistic expression can bind us all together as a collective humanity. Poetry is a celebration of the languages that bind us, as well an affirmation of shared human experience and empathy.
Take some time today to reacquaint yourself with some of your favorite poems and share them with the people you care about or expand your horizons by going out to a local poetry reading. Whether you enjoy the time-tested sonnets of Shakespeare, the profound works of T.S. Elliot, or the more contemporary stylings of Andrea Gibson, know that you will be participating in an ongoing act of cultural unity going back almost as far as human civilization itself!

Poets & Writers and the Academy of American Poets are both 3-Star organizations that are working to promote creative poetic expression. Check out the Academy of American Poets' website to find poetry events near you!
