Charity Navigator: April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

With the start of April, Charity Navigator has marked the start of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a time aimed at raising awareness about sexual violence and educating the public about how it can be prevented. Sexual assault and violence affect individuals of all populations, but are more prevalent for young people, women and girls, transgender students, and Native Americans, according to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network).

This year’s theme in Engaging New Voices, which “builds on the idea that we are stronger together, and that new partners and community members are needed to expand sexual assault prevention efforts. We can all help the next generation foster attitudes that promote healthy relationships, equality, and respect.” More information on Sexual Assault Awareness Month can be found at the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, who organize each year’s campaign.
