Charity Navigator and the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) have teamed up to launch The Dugan Research Award for Philanthropic Impact, a new grant supporting initiatives that advance the field of impact measurement by nonprofit organizations. The award is named in honor of Pat and Marion Dugan, who founded Charity Navigator in 2002, as a center to support philanthropy with unbiased ratings and evaluations of our nation’s largest charities.
For each of the next three years, one researcher will be selected by jury to receive $10,000 in funding and unfettered access to Charity Navigator’s extensive database to explore new, scalable ways to measure nonprofit programmatic impact. Final research papers will be shared publically at ARNOVA’s annual conference and provide the basis for more advanced data and information science in the area of impact measurement and assessments. For this partnership, Charity Navigator will finance the award, provide information and disciplinary support. ARNOVA experts will be evaluating Dugan Award applications and selecting grant recipients.
Researchers, nonprofit professionals, and ARNOVA members are welcome to apply for this year’s award.Entry kits and complete details on the competition are available at http://www.arnova.org/page/duganapp.
