Charity Navigator's Cross-Country Tour: Kentucky

Charity Navigator's cross-country tour has kept us criss-crossing the United States for a while. We've been east. We've been west. And, for a few weeks, we seemed to be settled in the Midwest. But now we're on the move again! This week, we're leaving Kansas and heading to Kentucky.

Known for its beautiful countryside dotted with farms, ranches, and horses, Kentucky is also home to almost 70 highly-rated organizations. These charities serve the people and communities of the Bluegrass State in a multitude of ways. Keep reading to learn more about a few of them.

Dream Factory (Louisville, KY)
☆☆☆
Make a child’s dream come true

The Dream Factory began with one all-volunteer chapter in Hopkinsville, KY in 1980. Since then, The Dream Factory has grown into the largest, all-volunteer driven, children's wish-granting organization in the United States. They currently operate with over 30 chapters with hundreds of extremely dedicated volunteers. These hard-working individuals raise funds within their own communities and then use those funds to grant dreams to local children. Ninety percent of all money raised by The Dream Factory is used to grant dreams. The Dream Factory is the only national children's wish-granting organization that does not limit its mission to children who have life-threatening illness. The organization believes children with chronic illnesses and disorders also suffer from substantial emotional and physical pain. We strive to provide hope and relief from the trauma and corresponding stress and depression that both the children and their families can endure on a day-to-day basis.

Empowering people. Changing lives.
