Donations Remain Steady in 2007

While the housing market, rising gas and food prices, and overall economic downturn are taking their toll on the American people, Giving USA Foundation’s analysis of 2007 giving data shows that the amount of money donated during the year increased 1% (when adjusted for inflation) to $306 billion dollars. This marks the first time in history that the $300 billion mark has been broken, and the first time since 2001 that giving to each analyzed sector has increased over the previous year.
However, even though these numbers might look promising, as we have mentioned before, charities will face many challenges in 2008, with an increased demand for their services, and less donations coming in.
You can view the Giving Statistics on our website, and we hope they inspire you to donate to one of your favorite 4 star organizations.

As a 501 (c) (3) organization itself, Charity Navigator depends on public support to help donors make informed choices. Please consider investing in the future of Charity Navigator by making a donation today.  Donate now >>
