Cereal Windfall for San Francisco Food Bank

The San Francisco Food Bank was recently the recipient of thousands of boxes of cereal from cereal maker Kellogg. Now that Kellogg has ended their marketing relationship with Olympian Michael Phelps they decided to donate the boxes of cereal that featured Phelps on front of the box to the food bank. The end of the endorsement deal was a result of a picture of Phelps smoking marijuana being made public. It appears that Michael Phelps indiscretion was the food bank's gain.

It amazes us how we put special people in the right place at the right time and they always let us and themselves down. It leaves awe in the face of sponsors who, despite economic setbacks, persist in helping to replenish depleted food stock so that others will survive. On the brighter side, imagine just how many people will still benefit from the supplies graciously donated by Kellogg. There are countless numbers of groups and individual constantly trying to ease financial burden from Governments and the private sector by going out on a limb to raise funds for charities and other non-profit events. It doesn't excuse bad behavior but we see this as a growing trend in every society. One of my posts which I have left on http://tinyurl.com/cle76u is aimed towards helping those here in Australia suffering yet another calamity of sorts and if we all work towards the common good, we may quite possibly make more than a difference. Idolizing any human being is a recipe for disaster. The media does it because they make money doing it and when the individual lets his guard down and fails to match the image they have constructed, it's over. Thank goodness Kellogg's saw a way to benefit others. It speaks well of their corporate sensibilities.
