Madonna is back in Malawi with plans to adopt a four-year-old girl, but an international human rights organization has criticized her actions in the media. Save the Children spokesman Dominic Nutt told CNN, “The best place for a child is in his or her family in their home community.” He also explained that children should only be removed from their village when all other options – such as living with an extended family member – have been exhausted. Save the Children is a top-rated organization focuses on children’s health and wellness in the United States and around the world.
According to the latest reports, a Malawian judge has denied Madonna's adoption application. Under Malawian law, prospective parents must live in the country 18 to 24 months before an adoption can be finalized, a requirement not met by the pop star. No word yet on any appeal from Madonna.
