According to the Chronicle of Philanthropy, donations made to the Haiti earthquake relief efforts has exceeded $305 million. The figures so far show that this pace is faster than the donation response to the Asian Tsunami but slower than the response to hurricane Katrina.

Donations to Canadian registered charities will be matched dollar for dollar by the Canadian government until early February, up to $50 million.
For those of us who donate consistently, year in & year out, disaster or no, this ability to include 2010 donations to Haiti in our 2009 taxes, seems meaningless. Like people who rush to pay taxes payable in January the previous December, all it really does is reduce your deductions in the following year.
How much less are people donating to charities not involved with Haiti consequently?
there are many charaties to donate to, we keep a small list @ Donate for Haiti
