Women’s Equality Day commemorates the addition of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution, which extended the right to vote to women. While the 19th Amendment was realized on August 26, 1920, universal suffrage wasn’t guaranteed for all (regardless of race) until 1965 and the first Women’s Equality Day. That timeline alone speaks to how much blood, sweat, and tears went into establishing this right for all Americans. This Women’s Equality Day, reflect on how far we’ve come and where we still need to go. Most importantly, remember that you can help move us there through your activism, volunteering, and donations.
