Fun Ways to Celebrate Grandparents Day

Grandparents play a special part in our lives. They love us. Look after us. And connect us to a deeper part of our history, culture, and identity.

Each year, just after Labor Day, we have the opportunity to celebrate our grandparents. Grandparents Day, Monday, September 9, is a wonderful time to let our grandparents know how much they mean to us by spending time with them or making a gift in their honor or memory.

Keep reading to find a couple of creative ideas for celebrating or remembering your grandparents this year.

Spend Time Together

If you’re able, make a plan to spend time with your grandparents this weekend. Enjoy a meal together, play a game, or go for a walk. Catch up on each other's’ lives. Tell stories. Listen to one another. Laugh together.

A great way to create new memories is by volunteering together. You can use Charity Navigator’s Advanced Search Tool and Discover feature to find an organization in your area where you can lend a hand. (Don’t forget to check out our Guide to Volunteering!)

Give a Meaningful Gift

Another wonderful way to celebrate our grandparents is by making a gift in their honor or memory. You can use Charity Navigator’s Giving Basket to make a gift to their favorite charity or a highly-rated organization working on a cause they’re passionate about. This is a wonderful way to uphold their legacy!

We want to hear from you!

What are some of your favorite ways to spend time with your grandparents or celebrate their memory?
